NYC-TLV Award Help
« on: July 26, 2010, 02:44:32 PM »
Dan:

I really need help.  Thanks to you and your site I have accumulated lots of starwoods points.  However I have not mastered using them efficiently for air travel because I always have very tight time constraints.  My father is ill in Israel and I have to book a flight ASAP from NYC to TLV.  Can you recommend someone to help me out with this; I am willing to pay a nominal fee for someone to do this Mitzvah for me.  Please let me know.  Tizku Limtizvot!

BTW keep the great work, I am proud to be a fellow Clevelander!

How many points do you have?
Ar you looking for one way or roundtrip?
If RT what would the return dates be?
Are you open to stops?

Let us know some more info and hopefully we'll be able to help.

- I have at least 125,000
- I am looking for roundtrip but I would want to know my options for changing the return just in case I would need to stay a little longer
- I am traveling with an infant, I do not know if that is relevant
- I prefer to go early next week and stay for 8-9 days
- I am open to stop overs if they will be a big savings but only with reasonable layover times.

I really appreciate your quick response

With miles the amount needed is the same whether you go direct or stopover. The issue is availability.

So far on star alliance all I see are some Biz class availability on Tue or Wed with ok stopover times. On Monday the only availability I see so far is with full day stops.
I couldnt find any economy yet, and no direct.

Co miles will probably need the lowest miles for this routing.

US still has a promo which will give you a 50% bonus on *points transfer.

Exactly, I was going to suggest a possible trade with someone who already has CO miles, as a transfer from your starwood points into miles needed for the flight might take too long to go through in order for you to book the flights you need.
First we need to find you availability.

Are they instant?

For the cause, if needed, you can use my CO Plat acc for the booking (extra availability)

If she really needs to fly early next week then the only way to take advantage of the US Promo is to find someone who already has US air points but doesnt need them right away so she can book the flight and transfer her SPG points to that persons US Air account which can take a week+.

Can you check with your login for availability? I check with my non-elite account and there were only some Biz tickets with long stops in BRU or WAW.

Is there a way to search for elite availability besides Onepass?

For ewr-tlv direct with co, no problem.

Via europe and such I'd use ana.

What date should I check?

With CO its $75, but has to be available.

Do you need to leave from NY or from CLE.
