Does anyone have the Cash Rewards cc with BofA? Can I buy a gc at a gas station with it and get the  3% cash back?

VR
Try OV or any other card with visa logo that can be loaded onto bb, unless they have same policy of no gc's at all with cc.

There's the answer, thanks Dan...
Was going to try anyways on my next Costco run (plan was to try Valero and 7-11). Still have some Freedom and Discover cards to spend 1500 on each this quarter...
Does Discover give the 5% bonus on 7-11 gc purchases for a fact?  I have had problems with them paying off at a GetGo & 1 other place.

I would do the GC for gas thing if it wasn't an extra 20 cents a gallon to get get the cash rate at bp and shell.  CC rate at Delta is $3.35 vs. $3.55 for cash rate at shell.

I think I'll pass.

Don't know yet... I couldn't find any info, and when no-one was able to help in search thread, I started this thread. The first Q is if 7-11 sells with cc, now someone has to try with dif cards. I believe that I got 5x with Freedom, but AFAIK no posts on Discover so far... Don't call try and let us know... (unless I beat you to it)

Anyone know of any 7/11's or other Gas Stations in NY or NJ that sell Visa or Mastercard GC's that can be loaded up to BB? I'm driving from Toronto to NJ next week so anywhere in NY will be helpful. I have 3 Freedom accounts and spent less than $900 this quarter. :(

You can check on www.7-eleven.com/Locator# for store locations but it doesn't say if they sell gas.

I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

With Discover, if you purchase gas at GetGo - looking to get the gasperks AND the 5% cashback - be careful.  GetGo uses the same merchant code as Giant Eagle and Discover will code it as a Supermarket purchase, so no 5%.  You have to call and ask them to adjust the CB credit.  They did it for me nice enough but it's a pain to have to call.  I would guess it's the same story with Chase Freedom if they go by the merchant code.
Update.  It happened again at GetGo on Mayfield.  Contacted GetGo:
Your Giant Eagle Response : Case #00745147
Dear Mr. Sxxxxxx, Thank you for contacting Giant Eagle Customer Care. We have looked into the issue at GetGo #3440 South Euclid with our business partners at Discover. It appears that this location was in fact set-up in error as a grocery merchant. Discover has made the correction on their end. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention as well. Discover will be able to credit you for any purchases prior to this correction being made today if you call into their Customer Service. We do apologize for any inconvenience and we value your continued patronage. Very Truly Yours, Giant Eagle Customer Care

Was by Tallman 7-11, should have taken a picture, but sign basically said that as of August 5th 7-11 will be coded to not accept cc for vr, and until then the cashiers got a memo not to accept. I went to a different 7-11 and was able to buy 1 onevanilla debit but 2nd was declined, they didn't have vr at 2nd 7-11...

I think this was the one I went to... I was going from Bklyn to rt 80 and needed gas, there was a sign on Hwy saying 7-11 + Shell gas. If you want you can call and confirm if they are connected to a Shell... Was only able to buy 1...

I tried in Buffalo, but no luck they're coded not to accept cc. Also tried TA travel center also no luck. If you find one that works please post.

Attached is a link to locations en route from Toronto to NY. I didnt check every single one but I'm pretty sure all are registered as gas. I got this list from  Visa merchant categorization site (https://www.visa.com/supplierlocator/index.jsp).

Yes.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

...And NYC area sucks compared to other areas. The few "gas stations" that I tried out said cash only. Seems like the store only policy. It was late so I didn't get to go to all the local joints. I need to hit up a few more places either today or tomorrow.
