2009 sienna oil filter issue
« on: July 11, 2013, 03:08:22 PM »
Whenever I go for an oil change, and they need to replace the filter, my mechanic has a very hard time opening it, to the point that he tells me that he might break the car by turning it so hard. Eventually, I convince him to try harder and he finally gets it.

The way Toyota makes it, you need to own a special Toyota key/tool to open the filter.

Today, I took my car in upstate NY for an oil change, and this guy tried turning it so so forcefully that he broke his key, and basically gave up. He just changed my oil, but told me that he cant open the filter, and I should take it back to my guy who closed it so tight.

So obviously it seems I have an issue opening my oil filter. WHAT DO YOU GUYS SUGGEST I DO TO GO ABOUT FIXING IT? What does a Toyota service place charge for an oil change. If they see that its an issue, will they fix it for me? Anyone else have this issue?
