I wash/iron most of my clothing at home. I never had an issue with this. I am beginning to wonder, however, if washing at home ruins clothing quicker than if they are sent to the dry cleaners.

My dress shirts typically have a life-cycle of about 6 months before they either incur an irremovable stain, or begin to tear at the edges.

Ironing kills about 5-10 minutes of my day, and it is not a perfect ironing job (i.e. the hard to iron areas get left out).

As for dress pants, I stick to non-wool pants.

Thoughts?

Non-iron shirts. Cotton khakis.
No ironing or dry-cleaners for me.

I don't know how you do that. My non-iron shirts always come out too creased to wear from the washer - even after hanging for 24 hours.

Brand?
Never had an issue with wrinkles.
Maybe it's your washer/dryer?

It happens to me with all shirts of all brands:

Various lines of Jos. A. Bank, both non-iron and wrinkle-free.

Charles Tyrwhitt

Various common names: Nautica, Banana Republic, Ralph lauren etc..

It may be my washer, but maybe it boils down to what is considered "straight".

My shirts come out perfect, but I do have an awesome washer:

Once you add up your dry-cleaning bills you'll see that it's worth investing in one.

Even my non iron shirts come out great if I take them out of the dryer right before the cycle ends and hang them up.

You also have to put it on the right setting.

Everything to the cleaners.

Looking for a solution for sweaters and etc that need delicate washing.

My shirts that I wash at home last way longer than the ones that go to dry cleaners.
If you don't care why would you comment?

About 80% of a good amex plat bonus (excl cost of dry cleaning at hotels).
