I plan on going to Grand Teton and Yellowstone in August and am thinking of staying in the area for shabbos. Anyone go to any of the Chabads there that can assist? Looking for general info regarding, visitor friendly, kashrus, minyan on shabbos, places to stay...

Only one game in town: Chabad of Jackson Hole. Rabbi Mendelsohn is extremely warm and visitor friendly and will definitely have a Shabbos minyan in August, possibly even weekday if there are enough tourists. But lodging in town is VERY expensive, so book ASAP.

Also know that Yellowstone is currently closed due to flooding, and even though parts of it will almost definitely be reopened by then, the northern part probably won't be, which will mean even more crazy traffic and possibly even timed entry to keep crowds under control.

A shame about the crowding that will cause. The north part of the park is great for distracting tourists away from the best parts of the park

Thank you! I'm keeping an eye on the plan for Yellowstone to reopen. Seems like a large possiblity the northern loop will open in a few weeks. Also a way to avoid ALPS is to stay in the park (yeh I know it's hard to find an open room  :) ).

Right I forgot to mention if you have hotel or campground reservations you aren't subject to Alps

Planning a trip with my family.  2 adults,  2 teens and 2 little ones.
Flying into fca. Getting a one way rental,  returning in bozeman. (Only option i could find besides boise to Jackson hole)
Want to spend Wednesday and Thursday and glacier. Possibly Friday or stay heading south and go to missoula o bozeman for shabbos.
Then would do Yellowstone sun - tue
Teton wed and a bit Thursday and then drive to Bozeman and fly back.
If i can find decent accommodations (financially) ,  perhaps staying a second shabbos so i have a full Thursday and Friday.
From past experience in national parks,  my kids are into watching the animals,  taking pictures... so things take time

Does that timing make sense?  We will do some hikes.  But nothing long or too strenous.
My youngest is 3.
Should we do grand Teton on Sunday,  Monday and then Yellowstone to try to avoid the weekend crowds or it doesn't make a difference?
They stopped the alternate license plate plan since the northern loop opened.  But it's hard to know exactly what is opened yet and what isn't.
Hayden valley,  beartooth....
Thank you

Another question.
I have marriot bonvoy points,  csp points.
What are my best options for staying in or close to Yellowstone with points? I would need 2 rooms and a kitchen or kichinette.
Since the northern entrance is closed, hotels near gardiner are cheaper.  How far is that to the open entrances?
Thanks

Yellowstone and Grand Teton

Going with my wife tonight 1st time to Yellowstone and Grand Teton.
Plan on few short hikes and mostly drive and stop.
The photos of the Grand Teton are much more appealing to my taste

How should I split my 3.5 days there?
Initially I was thinking 3 days Yellowstone and half a day Grand Teton, but maybe I should change it?
Question is how much there is to do there without a lot of hiking?

Sleeping in Island park and 1 night in Idaho falls

Does anyone know where the chabad house in Jackson is located? Website just offers a P.O. Box. And no one picks up the phone…

In the end, we slept all nights in Island park. Amazing place.

The Grand Teton was a bit of a let down, while the Yellowstone was stunning and very interesting.
Definitely a place we will want to come again and again
Definitely the number 1 National park as I see it.
(Been in Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and few others)

Can anyone share their experience visiting Grand Teton, Yellowstone or nearby parks in (the end of) March?

Are roads are still closed and only way to see the park's beauty is snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or skiing?
Thanks

I stayed once in the Lexington, and once in flat creek inn. With wife in Lexington. With friends in flat creek.

Interestingly enough, we were 3 men, and there were additional 7 men in flat creek to make up a Minyan.
