Wire fees on money transfer from UK to USA?
« on: July 17, 2013, 12:30:24 PM »
I have a customer in the UK, that transfers money into my USA Chase business account on a monthly basis,

Customer is paying the outgoing wire fee, however their bank uses a middle-man bank to actually do the transfer, and this second bank charges shamelessly a hefty £45 which is around $70.00 (not to mention that they give me below the official GBP to USD conversion rate) and then I get charged an additional $15 incoming wire fee by Chase, so basically I get ripped off around $85 or more every month

I need a better way to do this?

Customer is supposed to send out payment in USD and eat the conversion costs. Some banks don't charge incoming wire fees.

And no SWIFT, so wires will take longer.

Depends on your balance.
So similar to Citi Gold? $50k balance?

ETA: Found it, Chase Premier Platinum Checking. Requires an average daily balance of $75,000 or more in linked deposits15 / investments.

Unless you have the money with Chase anyway, seems a little ridiculous to put in that sort of money to save $15/month.

The $15 incoming wire fee by Chase is not my big concern here, my problem is with the outgoing wire fees, its crazy... last month for example, between them giving me way below the current conversion rate and their wire fees I lost around $110.

Amount is getting bigger every month and so is my wire fees, Chase in the other hand has a flat $15 fee, I can live with that

I'm just saying in general.
They also have accounts with some free outgoing wires, etc.

If you've got 100K lying around, 4 free/month.
