I'm traveling by car From NYC to Washington DC, i would like to stop over along the way for a nice (flaishig) dinner, high end is ok!

It depends where you want to stop. You can stop in Baltimore which is on the way but both the two suggestions above are better options as they are nicer than anything you will find in Baltimore.

Pomegranate Bistro is in a suburb of D.C. called Potomac, MD and is the area's only really high end restaurant. Eli's is also very good but not as expensive. The major advantage of Eli's is that is in Washington D.C. itself making it very convenient.

Both restaurants have takeout options if you need food for your trip.

I was there...wasnt very impressed. It was right when they opened, so may have gotten better.

Pom Bistro has a great lunch menu and some of the dinner items are phenomenal.
Elis is convenient if you are in DC..lots of selection most prob cheaper but not great.

I've gone to both and both were good for what they are. Eli's is loud. More like a sports bar. Pombistro is where I got engaged, the food was great and they were really nice. I told them before I was getting engaged, they went out and bought a congradulations balloon for us. It's fancier. Not like manhattan fancier, but it's definitely quiter. Eli's had tons of kids and Pom didn't.

Eli's is crowded and noisy at times but can also be quiet...Good place for a shiduch date IMO

Kosher pastry oven in silver spring is a little pricey but great place for breakfast.

Sienna's pizza in Rockville can be great for lunch.
