Anyone ever tried char bar?
After the memorials, I ubered it to DC Char Bar (formerly Eli’s) and picked up dinner. I got “The New Yorker” which is Corned Beef and First-Cut Pastrami with Russian dressing and Coleslaw on Grilled Rye, with fresh chips on the side. The sandwich was pretty good but the fresh chips were awesome. I’ll be back there Monday night for a burger.
I ubered it (after a disaster where the driver couldn’t/wouldn’t find me) back to DC Char Bar for dinner with a friend. I got a Western Burger which has Grilled Pastrami, Sautéed Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions. It was delicious.

Yes. I've tried it. I had a regular burger nothing fancy. Don't judge by my meal though. Lol. I was in a rush to get back to Baltimore.

I will be visiting DC in December and would like to take my daughter to the new Smithsonian Museum of African American History. I understand that the museum, just recently opened, is packed with visitors. They had "timed entry" tickets available but are now all scooped up.  I can go queue up at 9:15 and hope for same day timed-entry tickets, but I would, of course, love to avoid that uncertainty and avoid waiting in any lines whatsoever.  Any suggestions? I looked on StubHub to buy tickets but didn't see them listed.

Thanks.

The smithsonians, newseum, national mall. What do you mean is it worth flying?

I see, do you own a car? If you do, it would be much easier and cheaper to just drive in.

DC isn't exactly a ski resort....it's a museum place. Interesting ones ( Spy, newsium , air and space) cultural ( African American, Indian, ) museums ( the Smithsonian, natural history)

Government and I can go on...

I estimate rt driving from queens to silver spring about $80  in gas and tolls in a sedan with today's gas prices... you can beat that in theory flying if it's one person..but fill up the car and it's more economical to drive.

Plus about $120 in depreciation and maintenance to the car for the 500 miles.
Eta: more like $90 - $100.
