Anyone ever stay at the Westin Georgetown?
Also interested in the Park Hyatt, but I can't seem to get a decent rate.
I started typing a whole response about why the Westin Georgetown is in a great location (near shul, kosher food, subway, etc.) before I realized the Park Hyatt is right there too.
Are you driving at all? I went to DC around Presidents Day and the reason I ended up not staying at the Westin Georgetown was parking. If I'm gonna be putting together a cheap trip using points for a hotel stay I'm not plopping down $40 a night for parking (I'm sure you can find parking for less, but not much less, and it just seemed like a hassle). I ended up staying a 20-30 minute drive away in Tysons Corner (also Westin but level 3 instead of 4) where they had free parking and a metro station nearby and it worked out really well.
I don't know if you're going for business or pleasure, but if you're touring here's my take on the things I visited (and if you're not, at least it'll be in the thread for others who are). The Museum of American History is really great, but they're slowly closing down everything in the west wing of the museum (basically a little less than half of the exhibits) for renovations. The Capitol tour is really good, but you can't bring any food or drink into the building and they're very strict. The Crime Museum is excellent too, but at full price it's $20 for a few hours worth of museum, max. Also, if you are taking a car, the Air and Space Museum's 2nd location (the original is on the National Mall) near the airport is absolutely fantastic, and well worth the $15 they charge for parking (the museum is free).
