how are those priced, I was trying to book with starwoods points

It's a very poor value for a starpoint redemption. The best redemptions are at high season at expensive hotels. If you don't care about the cpp of your redemption, and not using funds at all is more important to you, then you can redeem.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

will that be case with other hotels in the DC/Baltimore area, how do you find the properties that are better value of your points.  Also if you take the lowest rate and you are spg gold are you still eligible for a room upgrade, even though you are not using points?

can anyone answer this,  If I book the Westin in DC on Orbitz, would I still be eligible for an upgrade with my gold status?

You should be eligible for a room upgrade if you take a low rate.

Doubtful. They give you more when you book directly through them. If you see a rate thats lower you can call them to price match and then your gold benefits will help you.

Parking is a major issue, and the biggest reason I didn't end up staying in DC proper. If you stay there it's going to be expensive and/or inconvenient to park. There are 3 Metro stations, all on the outskirts of DC, with multi-day parking available, and you'd end up paying <$5 a day (free on weekends) to leave it there. Of course if you plan on driving anywhere while you're there it's not much of an option either

"At least one other kosher eatery is open in downtown Washington, at the local JCC."

True, though I don't get what a petition will do.
If it's profitable it'll reopen.  And if it doesn't another likely will.

In the district, yes.  There are other options in the Maryland suburbs.

Dan, I went to Eli's on your recommendation. I think you way overrated them. The food is decent, but nothing to wrote home, er, blog about. When you factor in the terrible, awful wait time and the crowdedness (at least when I was there) you come out with a less than average experience.

Bottom line.... next time I'm in DC, I'll eat in Maryland.

3 out 5 means that its mediocre overall in my book.  Its nice not to have to drive an hour to get food but I what gave you the impression that it was something to write home about?

Thinking about DC with the wife for a couple of days...only concern is that we want to go from 12/24-12/26.

We dont mind walking around, even in the cold, but I dont want to just see the white house and be done...

Where are the trip reports?
