My wife and I got 4 citi cards last October (75k visa and amex each).

I understand from all of my reading that we should wait 18 months before churning. What I don't see a consensus on is....

Do we shift to a no fee or cancel entirely?

Does Citi reconsideration negotiate like Chase? If yes would we be better off transferring to a no fee and offer to close when we reapply again in April??

Any advice from the experts?

Any experience?

With Citi, they will almost always offer you an $85 credit (the amount of the annual fee) if you agree to leave to card open and make 5 purchases. I currently have 6 active Citi AA cards which I've never paid an annual fee for.

Probably not, but worth a try.
But you stand a good chance to get the business Visa if you've never had one yet.

Yes, they will pull your personal credit report.
I have no experience applying with multiple business names, but AFAIK, you can only have one tax ID for all your business', so whether your using your SSN or Tax ID number, chances are the Citi systems will see you as the same customer.

Every business has its own tax ID number

But if you're an individual with a few DBA's, are you able to get a new Tax ID for each one? I was under the impression that you can't.

Numerous DBA's ≠ numerous corporate entities.

I still don't have clarity:

For churning purposes of the citi AA cards (after 12-18 months) is it better to....

1.  keep present cards open and try to get fee waived...or
2. transfer to a no fee non AA card....or
3. cancel the cards altogether

Well, it definitely cannot be #1.

How would you be able to churn the card if you allowed it to stay open?

You can have multiple of the same AA card open.

How can you churn the Citi AA card while leaving the prior one(s) open when they're turning people away left and right saying the bonus is "only for first-time consumers?"

That's an old story. Welcome to the club. There isn't much rhyme and reason with Citi. I currently have 6 active Citi AA cards starting from '09, and I've received the bonus for each of them. And those are just the personal cards.
