I asked them if the $5 tax on an award ticket would count and they said anything that comes up as a purchase from aa should count.

Anyone see any downside in getting virtual GC's instead of plastic? Save $5 in shipping this way (x 3 credit cards)

Fine print on CC seems to imply that it would. Anyone know for sure?

Yes. In my last call I had them confirm that it was for the first purchase.

update.. the $100 charge was there for a few days.. i printed out the gift cert from aa... and now the charge seems to have vanished... doesn't show a credit or anything it just vanished from the activity log online..
Im sure the cert will still work since i printed it out already.. if anyone feels otherwise please let me know..
