I got the Citi Visa and Amex with the Bait and Switch method. The card came in the mail in the mail last Thursday, today I get a letter that they denied me for the Visa due to too any recent apps.

I just got instantly approved for a 2BM Citi AA MC with 30k and a CL of $6K, and the AA Amex with 50k and a CL of $6K

Pulled a bait and switch. After being instantly approved for a WMC Gold with the 30k + Amex with 50k, I applied for the Visa. When I got the " we are considering your application" message for the visa,  I called recon. I told them I didn't want the MC I was approved for, instead I want the Visa and the Amex. After some back and forth I got approved for the Amex+Visa.

I checked my Experian and only 1 pull for the 2BM and the single Visa app.

Did they ask you for tax returns or pay stubs? I once applied for my wife and the asked to see pay stubs, but I never heard them asking for tax returns. If it's way off you could explain to them that you earned less in 2011 than in 2012 and that you haven't filed yet for 2012....

Maybe the letter was generated right away but recon approved it? Is your card active (check online, use it or putpac)?
