Usually, yes. YMMV.

Application 1 for 50K: Gets approved on its own merits.
Application 2 for 50K: Gets declined due to multiple applications.
Application 3 for 30K: Gets accepted (usually with recon), and then get recon to approve Application 2 instead of Application 3.
This way you wind up with 100K and not just 80K.

Apply for the 50k+30k at the same time (2bm), get instant approval on both. Then apply for the 50k and get declined due to multiple applications.

Then call recon and offer to close the 30k to get the 50k approved.

Ask them when you call to activate the cards, they will be more than happy to give you all the info

You need to review what a 3BM is

They all need to be from the same bank. You've asked about 2 Citi and and Amex = no dice.

I tried that exch bait and switch... But was declined even on first 50k card...
What is the citi card recon number?
( dans post only has account analyst and app status departments and they say that can't recon a app once denied...)

I have an upcoming AA flight (award flight that I booked with avios) which I booked before I applied and got my AA Platinum Visa card (first link 50k).  Any chance I can get free bags? I know the T&C say my AA number needs to be on the reservation (it's not b/c I booked on Avios) and that I have to have card at time of booking (I didn't) - do they enforce those things, or can I just like flash the card and get free bags?

Good luck getting an answer to that. I asked twice in the past few weeks and narry a peep. I would like to know the answer myself. Or at least an IMHO or an IME............

Saver2000 and Dirah are contradicting each other.  Who should i listen to?  Dirah says apply for both 50k, and then the 30k.    Saver says apply for one 50k and one 30k together, and then apply for the second 50k.

I would check the original bait and switch guy and the only person publicly acknowledged as having done it successfully

I just got instantly approved for a 2BM Citi AA MC with 30k and a CL of $6K, and the AA Amex with 50k and a CL of $6K

Pulled a bait and switch. After being instantly approved for a WMC Gold with the 30k + Amex with 50k, I applied for the Visa. When I got the " we are considering your application" message for the visa,  I called recon. I told them I didn't want the MC I was approved for, instead I want the Visa and the Amex. After some back and forth I got approved for the Amex+Visa.

I checked my Experian and only 1 pull for the 2BM and the single Visa app.

But then again this method is still uncharted , so maybe try something new like Dirah

Is it totally pointless to try for both 50k together?  Is there zero chance of getting approved for both?
