from his post it seems like they ARE eporting the CL and that's the problem; it's TOO high (close to his total stated income)
im not totally sure what  the issue is it could either be they are reporting the high balance which they r but then on the equifax report they r not using that balance to calculate utilization so i think it is either hurting because of the cl or because its counted in the credit used portion of the utilization but not the available cl part

I just called Citi about the 2 applications that they said were "pending further review".  I got approved for both (Personal Amex and Business Visa) over the phone, after holding for a couple of minutes.  So now I'm just waiting for an answer on the 3rd application (Personal Visa) - website said I'd get a response by email within a week.

I did the 3-browser maneuver, but I'm surprised I even got approved for 2 of them because I already have a Citi AAdvantage MasterCard and a couple of other citi cards, which aren't utilized much.  That being said, they only approved me for $5k on the Amex and $9k on the Business.

Wat did they ask you when you called?

Why would a high CL be a problem, even if its higher that stated income?
If anything the problem could be if the balance is almost as high as stated income.

They're worried that you have too much available credit and not enough income to pay it back.

First time getting this card, I assume. Why not create an AAdvantage account and get an AAdvantage # so you can put in on your application and know what account your miles were applied to.

Wait until you get the card/miles, you can always try and switch it later for spending. IMHO you don't want to alert them to the fact that there are two identical cards...

They might suppress two of the same application (i.e. both Amex).

I'm not sure how big the window for the three-app trick is, this has been discussed on DDF in the past.

NO! I think if one was suppressed there's not much you could do. If you actually got both then calling would get it cancelled.

As far as applying for other cards, I don't know within how long the 'three-browser-trick' applications need to be.

Fluke!
I'll try that next time.
Instead of applying for the biz, I'm gonna go for 2 Visas and one Amex or vice versa.

You'll get 50k after spending $750 (or first purchase, I forget).
