No, your points are safe in your AA account, at least as far as Citi is concerned).

so i just called and they waived the annual fee (for my second year of the card) and they also said for every $750 i spend in a billing cycle they will give me an extra 750 miles (so about 2 miles per $750 dollars)
Was this a good move? Or better to just close my card?

Why would it be a bad move?

Any updates if anything else is eligible for the 150 credit?

Any updates on this? Anyone try getting a gift card?

Also, can it be done piecemeal? I.e. buy a $100 AA ticket, and then, pay $50 for luggage when you fly?

Weird...
I did a 2BM with the cards, and received the immediate messages to "set up my accounts" before I received the official confirmation. So I though I was golden.

A week later, received an email for each of the 2 applications telling me I have reached my CL with them, but that they could separate the CL from my other accounts (2 TY accounts) to $x and $y and approve them.

I called to confirm, and they were telling me stuff about the file being closed, etc, and the lady finally told me that they saw I applied for 2 cards, and that they are concerned about ppl applying for the AA cards and then canceling them after receiving the bonus (duh).

I explained to them why this card (the Visa) one was important to me, and she did the CL transfer for me. Now I need to call up about the second one also, and try to get it to work.

I forgot to ask in the post above, can anyone think of a specific reason I would want the AMEX card if they already gave me the other one?
I could say b/c it's eligible for more promotions, but then they would suspect that those are all I care about, and will therefore flip the card quickly.
So... anything unique to AMEX that I can tell them?

costco only accepts amex, not visa/mc. he could tell citi that he wants the amex in addition to the visa he already was approved for so that he can use it in costco

Did 3BM for AA Visa, AA Amex and ThankYou 3 Premier account. Got accepted for 2 AA cards and turned down for ThankYou card due to "have submitted multiple applications for credit". Got 2 pulls in NJ. Will try reconsideration. First AA card approved for in almost 2 years.

Congrats!
I'd be surprised if Citi approved you for a third card on recon. Please do report back if successful.

Sorry for buggin everyone, but anyone have an answer whether the $150 credit can post for anything besides flying?
Also, if it is for a flight, is it only for an AA flight, or anything booked through their website?

+1

Will AA Gift Certificates work?

Fine print on CC seems to imply that it would. Anyone know for sure?

"The $150 will appear as a billing statement credit from CitiŽ after you make your first eligible purchase with the card within 12 months of cardmembership, for items billed by American Airlines as merchant of record. Products or services that do not qualify are car rentals, hotel reservations, American Airlines VacationSM packages, purchases of American Airlines AAdvantageŽ miles, duty-free purchases, and AA CargoSM products and services."
