Citi AA signup bonus 50K, 75K, or even 100K??!!
« on: July 29, 2010, 09:48:45 PM »
There are some reports on FT of people getting offers from Citi for 75K AA signup bonus after spending $1500 and others have gotten offers for 50,000 American Airlines AAdvantageŽ bonus miles after $750 in purchases within the first 4 months of cardmembership and 50,000 AAdvantageŽ bonus miles after you make $10,000 in purchases during your first 12 months of cardmembership. Fee is waived for the first year annual fee.
There are links for the personal Visa and Amex and business Visa

The big question is that since these seem to be targeted offers will they work for anyone who uses the links or only for the intended individuals. The problem is that the links go directly to apps that dont have any info about these bonuses so you cant prove to them at a later date that you used a valid app. Here are the links if anyone is interested;

For the 50K+ 50K bonus
Personal Visa;

Business Visa;

Personal Visa for 75K after $1500 spend;

Now that is a sweet offer!

Of course it's Citi, so major YMMV if you've gotten an AA bonus in the past.

Should not have just applied for an AA card  :(

I applied for the 100K- I figured I may as well go for the big one- I have a year to spend the 10K and I am no rush for my points.

What do you think the chances of getting the bonus even if I wasnt targeted?

If you get the card and assuming those are the right links, 99% chance.

Do you know of a number to call them to discuss my application? I want to offer to move over some credit line from my other cards.

I also recently applied for citi. So I have to options
A) my uncle with that same name as me, apply and put down my advantage #
B) my brother apply and points go into his account the change name and merge accounts

Is it worth either one to risk my Advantage account with a couple 100k in there?

Isnt it strange that the offer page doesnt say anything about 75k or 100k?

I dont remember from previous Citi apps but I saw someone mention that in the past whenever they applied with links posted online they didnt either see the bonus amounts on the app but did eventually get what the offer had stated.

Here is a link to the offer page prior to the application for the 100K;
http://view.aa.com/w/LCSI0L/E92UA/R3V0IME/9MSA71/1/b27e9cfcf8cf877e322f/

Note that it has someones name an AA acct# on the top corner, but the application is empty.

I thought it was posted that the card's designation didn't matter.  Ie, if you had a personal card (regardless of whether it is/was the Visa, MC or Amex) you couldn't get another personal card (even if it was a card of a different designation).  Although you could get lucky and sneak through the cracks.

As a related question, what if you have two AA accounts that haven't been merged.  If you've gotten the bonus on one AA account, could you apply for the card again using the other AA account?

Citi doesn't track by mileage numbers.
Either you slip through the cracks or you don't...YMMV.

True, I didnt mean to imply that I am definitly eligible for the Visa, just that since I already have the other 2 I might have a slightly better chance by applying for the Visa than for the Amex.

Update- I called the # to check Citi app status 1888-201-4523 and the message said I was denied the card. I transferred to a CSR and was told that the reason was because I already am a citi card member. I told him that I only have the MC and wanted the Visa he told me they are all considered current cardholder and if i want to discuss further i should call the CS# on the back of my card.

I was denied as well...(i currently have 2 AA citicards)

My wife was approved for the 75k one. (she never had one) Could i apply for the 100k for her today as well? any chance of getting approved? Or would the 75k one already be in the system which would get her denied on the next one (applied about an hour ago). Probably should have used 2 separate browsers...is it too late to get another app in?

Oh. I never had a biz card either. Can i do a biz card for myself if i have several personal ones?

Also, if this is really targeted, would i at least get the usual 30k? or would they give me nothing?
