My issue that they want to see proof of employment and salary...don't want to show them anything :) :)
They are a credit card company for crying out loud. You expect them to give you thousands of dollars of credit without verifying you?

Not sure, but just because you have other cards doesn't necessarily mean your safe... anytime you apply for a new one they can potentially need to verify your finances

lately they have matched spending patterns on credit reports to income claims, and they'll ask for verification if it doesn't match up (I personally know of such a case where 100k was claimed income and he was told that he's not spending like 100k!).

Applied for a card and got this back:

The minimum amount of credit we would issue, when
added to your existing credit obligations(which includes
outstanding lines of credit), would excessively increase
your debt burden in relation to total income provided.
If you feel your stated income on your application
may be incorrect, please call us at 1-888-201-4523.  You do
not have to disclose alimony, child support, separate
maintenance income, or any other income unless you wish
us to consider it with your application.

I have another citi card (not AA) with a 9k limit 0 balance do you think they would transfer some of the credit line over?
Any other ideas what to do?

thanks

I got an email saying the following when i applied for the business card:

Thank you for applying for a CitiBusiness(R) Card account.
Please note the following regarding your application:

o   In evaluating your application, we have been unable
to verify your business and/or home address.

So first i called the rep and got nervous when they wanted the verification (since i really don't even have a business) but then a few days later i called back and asked them to REsubmit the application (i regretted giving up so easily) and asked what i needed to do to verify, and they told me that i needed to send a utility bill with my name (which i don't have) So she told me to send her two bank statements, (with my address so they can verify it) One savings account statement and one checking account statement. so i faxed in my Chase Continental Business checking statement along with another savings account statement...

I still doubt i'll ever get the card but i'm glad i tried
i had the same think i faxed my coned bill and statement and was approved

Relative to getting denied for a personal card, how bad is it to get denied for a business card?

Being denied doesn't do much. It's the pull (and no resulting account to boost your credit and make up for it).

after applying for all three on sunday, i got the email for the biz denying me due to too many applications. a few hours later i received a call from them about the amex and visa telling me they have to move some credit from my existing account in order to approve BOTH cards, which i readily agreed to. seems moving credit is alive and well

I just got this back from Citibank. I haven't had the Citi Amex in over 2 years, but have a MC from them. Can I call anyone and beg once they've done an inquiry already?  Do I ask them to give me another offer (below says this specific offer) without going through whole application process? Or was this one nechtam lemisah  :( ?

Dear xxxxxx:

 Why we're writing you
Thank you for applying for the Citi Select(R) / AAdvantage(R)
American Express(R) account.  Unfortunately, we are unable
to approve your request for the account at this time because
 of the following:

o   This specific offer is valid only for first-time Citi(R)
/ AAdvantage(R) cardmembers.? Our records indicate that
you already have a Citi(R) / AAdvantage(R) account with us.

 Here's what you should know
Our credit decision was based, in whole or in part, on
information obtained in a report from the following consumer
 reporting agency:

 Experian
 P.O. Box 2002
 Allen, TX  75013-0036
 1-888-EXPERIAN (1-888-397-3742)

so that we can reevaluate your application.  Be sure to
include the reference number listed above.  Do not provide
this information by replying to this email, as we cannot
process individual messages arriving at this address.

If your financial situation changes and you would like
to reapply for an account, visit us at www.citicards.com.
We appreciate your interest and hope to have the opportunity
to fulfill your request in the future.

 Sincerely,

 R. M. Pick

Just got off the phone with them. Begged and pleaded my case. They said as long as you have had any type of Citi AA card, I'm not qualified for this offer. I asked if they can just slide me into another offer (like the 30K) and they said it has to be seperate application. I asked about my credit report (I implied that they had send me an invitation) if they can remove that inquiry and they said NO.

Mind you that my wife has had Citi AA cards and they approved her for the 100K card the same day I applied for mine.

Maybe I shouldn't have been a chazer and just gone for the 35K.

I guess like you always say, YMMV.

Wouldn't have made a difference.  It's completely YMMV with Citi.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

this issue may have been covered before but i just wanna make sure. my brother and his wife signed up for 2 personals - one for each of them.  he accidentally put in one aa number on both applications. is this ok? can bonus miles from 2 different credit cards under 2 different names post to one aa account?
UPDATE:
Citi automatically searched for an AA account under his wife's name and address and corrected the AA number on their own.
