I tried applying for the personal and business card at the same time (different browsers), the business app. went through but on the personal app. i got an error message telling me to try later. Am I going to be able to apply later or will it get shot down due to many applications?

YMMV.

No need to apply for biz and personal at the same time, they are treated as two separate products.

Would closing the card or switching the card into Citi AA Bronze and applying within the week increase the chances of getting approved?
And which of the two above choices would work better?

Also I recently moved and my current Citi cards are still under my old address (forwarding mail with USPS), so would applying with the new address give me better chances?

I would think, that a new address would be worse, since as you stated that you recently moved, none of the credit agencies or citi would know your new address, and it would cause them to question that part of your application.

i closed my business card and my bronze card and still got denied but of course YMMV... as far as business and personal being two diff. products, they still denied me for "multiple apps" when i did personal and business in close succession

Funny... You're saying that moving lowers your credit score? LOL.

I'm not saying it lowers it. It just may cause them to doubt your identity if they don't know your address.

Let's try an SAT analogy question.

United Visa::AA Visa.
SPG AMEX::AA AMEX.

Or in plain English, neither of those cards have any connection or impact on the other.
Why did Citi deny you for the AA Visa?

Always worth a try. Your Starwood has no connection to this.

I wouldn't pay back the loan by doing a balance transfer just for the hope of Citi approving you, unless the terms of the new loan are better then the student loan, which I think is unlikely.

If you've been paying on time every month to Citi then I'd think it would raise your chances of getting another credit line from them, not lower it. Unless there are other factors like maxing out credit utilization on that loan that are hurting you.

Do you know if your credit score is currently good? Your Looking for scores in the 700 range (FICO)

In that case, I guess I'll enter the old address, the card will be forwarded with USPS to my new address, or in the worst case scenario I know the guy living there currently...
