They sent me an email saying they needed to speak with me so I called them. Then they said I had to give them documentation that I had the business such as lawyers letters, or bills with the name of my business on them. I told them it was a sole proprietership so I didn't have such things. They said without two forms of proof that my business exists they couldn't open it so they closed the application.

when u applied online did it say that u r approved or did it say they'll get back 2 u?

Call them and see if they'll reopen the first card. Then make sure you get the miles.

Does it make any sense that applying in local Citibank branch would increase chances of approval? Even if just 30 or 40K?

i doubt it. They probably send the app to the same department as if you apply online

I know this is an old conversation, I wanted to know if I could still apply for the AA mastercard if I applied for the visa already and was approved 4 months ago? are they still offering the card?

Yes, I am not vouching for it still working but I know 2 people that signed up via that link (that goes straight to the app) recently and got confirmation that it was for the 75K bonus.
Dan has posted many times in the past that as long as the link still works they will honor the bonus.

I've seen numerous such reports as well. For 75k, I'd risk it myself too, I even got my Mom to apply.

when filling out a business app do u go with the Sole Proprietorship or do you rather fill in the tax id with your social security number?

Just applied for all 3 100K cards in a shot.
Got approved for the Consumer Visa instantly. We'll see if it comes now or if I get the dreaded "first-time customer" letter from Mr. Pick.
Currently have an open AA Consumer Visa, MC, AMEX, and a business card.

I keep getting declined for being a previous cardholder. I know its a "YMMV" situation, but why does my mileage vary so much from yours??
