I had all three: visa, am, and business cards before. many times. The last time I applied on March 8 and only got approval on Citi Business card and I cancelled it on June 1 after getting 75K bonus. I waited more than 3 months between applications and applied on June 14 and got approval on both Cit Amex and cit business cards. Cit Visa was rejected because of duplicate application.

When I (and a few family members) called up, I told them that the reason I applied for this card was
bec. it was a new business name but I don't have all the papers yet for the new name but If they
wouldn't mind mind changing it to the old business name.....

Try again...

I tried again. I guess I need to try again and again... Instead she suggested something real simple: Reapply with the old name...

I hate dealing with AA customer service. They suck! My miles still hasn't posted yet...and I applied for the card in april and met my spending then as well.

@steve, I am not sure whether they did a hard pull again since I didn't review my credit report. I just remembered that I mailed out the form before my 3 weeks vacation, the credit card was in the mail when I came back.  Good Luck!

I had a very weird situation last night....I went ahead and applied two family members for the visa and amex (4K spend) double browser. The first got instant approvals for both while the second "need review" "missing info" etc. Now everything was filled out correctly and citi even acknowledged that when i called. Any idea why this happened? Credit is impeccable for both applicants. Perhaps not clearing cookies? does that even make any sense?
Found out the reason people: He had a card closed for inactivity about 10 years ago by the bank so there is a restriction on his account....One card was declined, after a call (which included app processing and cs) was put in for reprocessing since some idiot declined it without seeing why there was a restriction. The other got approved after a few days of manual processing. Waiting on the first, will keep advised. So incompetent.

and while im ranting- I went ahead and did 2 1500 dollar charges on both cards to meet my requirements, they were declined multiple times. I finally called in and they put a "repression" on the account to allow the charges. Then today I see a message online above my accounts "please call in to make sure your card isnt declined here in" or something to that effect. Seems the repression only lasts 24 hours and then they shut you down again eventhough you didnt make a purchase yet. Of course amex, chase no problem, and if there was theyd call me as soon as I did the transaction to verify

Got approved with 3 browsers for the 75k visa $1500
75k Amex $4000
75k business $1500,
Got only 1 instant approval, pulled the appid from the page source,
Called 18666062961 got the other two approved.
I previously applied for the 3 cards on 2/28 and converted them all to different cards, the personnel cards only converted after 45 days.

Re: Signing up for 2 AA consumer cards
« Reply #1197 on: June 17, 2011, 12:12:41 PM »
I just called AA to get some canceled miles reinstated. I got it done through applying for the 50,000/100,000 mile AA citi AMEX card. (which have posted already btw)
Anyways, as I was hanging up the lady asked if I'd like to sign up for the citi mastercard or visa and get 30,000 points. I asked her if I would get it even though I already got a sign up bonus. She said that the AMEX isn't connected to the VISA/MC and that I would get it again even though they're both consumer cards. I said I wasn't interested so that I can go to the link and get the 75,000. Anyone else have any experience with this?
Thanx Dan for discovering this challenge and Thanx Mes for being in the right place at the right time(I only discovered your post bc Im having some issues with Citi so decided Id do a chazarah of the thread)

For everybody else:
I called aa today about that and they informed me its a "challenge" in which I have to agree to receive emails from them and have 750 points post through citi cc, then call back and they reinstate everything. Free points everybody. Get urs today. See dan's link below for more detail

In order to churn AA cards in the future, is it better to keep them open and pay the annual fees?
