How do I add a reserved segment to a ticketed reservation on UA? Need help!

I have an award ticket booked with UA with the following segments:
EWR - GVA UA
GVA - FRA LH
FRA - BKK TG in F

I have an additional ticket on hold:

JFK - FRA lh in F

I would like to substitute the first two segments of the first reservation with the second reservation, but UA reps say that it's not possible without canceling my reservation.
If I cancel my reservation LH I'm afraid that the tickets may not reappear. The same goes with my TG reservation.
Any ideas?

If I cancel the reservation there's no guarantee that it'll reappear.

When calling them I would not ask to change it, I would say that I am trying to do it online and it doesn’t go.

Thanks for the clarification. Is there anyway to know which segment is more likely to come back lh or tg? Could I base it on the amount of available seats? should I release 1 lh reservation at a time?

I would bet on TG, although it seems like you have more to lose if that doesn't come back.

One of the reps I spoke to changed my JFK - FRA from F to Y! That's nuts. Is there anything I can do?

Try to find an agent who knows how to do a long sell. Get them to long sell the LH F flights onto your TG itinerary; if successful, you can ditch the JFK-FRA itinerary that you have altogether.
