Shaving
« on: July 30, 2013, 10:48:30 AM »
I have gone through my fair share of electronic shavers, and am in the market for anew one (again). I have very sensitive skin on my neck and have a ver hard time shaving. Does anyone have any recommendations for both a shaver and anything to help with the shaving process?

1) I like beards for that reason.
2) Baby powder helps me a lot when a beard is not an option.
3) I know some people who use a razor on the neck and a shaver for the rest.

1) When my skin is too moist or too dry, I use baby Poweder (as 12HRS said).  They also make a gel people use before using an electric shaver which I have never used but I have heard decent reviews on it.
2) I am happy with my Norelco which I have used for 5-7 years. I replace the heads about every 2 years, they are available on Amazon.

I have the same problem. I have done baby powder and preshave gel. I found the best thing is to shave with a fan blowing on the neck it works wonders.

I turn my AC onto 65 before I shave, when my face is cold it's much easier!

I use the Remington FaceSaver Pre-Shave Stick before using my Norelco 1290X....the stick is less messy than baby powder and the norelco picks up all the hair without causing irritation
I have nothing witty to write here....

Essential does what the pre shave does firms the skin and make hair hard so it's easier to cut
I can't recall the one I use but it's a general no name brand

I have never had a problem replacing my shaver heads and breaking off the lift and cut, but for some reason am having trouble with my recent set.  Anyone with a similar issue recently?

Anyone have any other recommendations for particular shaver models that are helpful for sensitive skin? I've heard that some of the Brauns are very good, but I don't know which model.

My beloved brothers, I hope I am not out of line here but let me just suggest something out of love...

I understand you are relying on certain heterim, but if it is such a freaking pain in the @$$ to shave, then why rely on heterim? Be "machmir" and save yourself some agmas nefesh while you're at it. A beard is the beauty of a Jewish man, b'ruchniyus and b'gashmiyus. And it's poshut more practical too, as this thread only proves.

I love you guys. I hope you don't take offense. You're all beautiful!

Nothing personal but there is no better way to take this thread off topic than you post.

Ah dear freddie; dont we all wish life was so simple... some of us weren't brought up with the ideology of having a beard. and although by some it is something that is to be admired, others may work in a public workplace where the sudden lack of shaving will be considered "slacking off" or "hipster" and unprofessional. (besides when i keep a beard for sefirah or playoffs (lol) it tends to get extremely annoying

@whacked1: Trimming can take care of the issues you mention.
Then noone will be in pain due to their sensitive skin.
