Delaware Master Thread
« on: July 30, 2013, 12:47:42 PM »
Don't know if this thread will help anyone else but I am going to DE in a few weeks and there are no threads about it so I figured I would start one.

So we are going with 4 families, total of 8 adults, 9 kids older than 2 and 2-3 kids under 2

Hotels: We need a hotel that allows for 2 adults and 3 kids plus an infant so that really limits our options. Thinking of taking 5 rooms at the Sheraton suites wilmington (10k points) or sheraton wilmington south (7k points). Other options would be Homewood suites newark-wilmington south or a staybridge suites.  These definitely arent as nice as the sheratons but would allow us to fit in 4 rooms.

Will update with the list of anticipated activities soon

There is a pointbreaks in Deleware, south of that area. It does not look great, but they do have suites, and that would be very cheap

Sorry to get back after so much time but there is a lot to do in Delaware.  But it really depends if you are going to North or South Delaware.  South DE has a lot of beaches, water parks and things like that.  North DE is very different, much more industrial but things to do.
Stayed at the Sheraton Wilmington South which was a nice hotel, nothing special.  We went to the Herrs factory (in PA but not far) and really recommend this.  Also in PA but not far is Longwood gardens which was really nice.
We did the brandywine zoo which is a very small zoo, hagley museum was somewhat interesting, delaware children museum was like most childrens museums but kids liked it a lot.  We did a few other things that I cant remember right now, a ferry ride...

Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton, DE.

Free tours and free tastings.

Best to make reservations for the tours in advance although they can usually accomodate walkins.

Does the Dogfish Head brewery have kosher tastings? Anyone else have good ideas in that area? I see TripAdvisor has a helicopter museum, some train museums, and an old boat museum that apparently brought the settlers to America way back when. TIA
