Enterprise Issue

We reserved online a 2 day economy car rental with Enterprise.
When we called to have them pick us up, we were told there was nothing available besides SUVs and we would have to pay more.
We chose not to pay more and didn't take anything at all.

Shouldn't they have upgraded us for free?
Is there anything we can do going forward, like asking for a free rental/upgrade etc. in the future?

they are just idots over there. I would call the district manager and file a huge complaint.
