Are there decent mehadrin places to eat in the area for a 3 night stay?

Just because you can't eat all the food there, doesn't mean it's not still a peek to get free breakfast. Even by non kosher breakfasts you can find items that you can eat. I'm sure that would be the case in this hotel as well.

in Israel its more complicated because fruits need a decent hechsher also

That's true but even if you keep CY you can often find packaged puddings, yogurts, cereal and milk in Israel, which you don't have in the US.

IMO yes, especially if its not far out of your way. get late checkout and enjoy a pleasant stay, go to the restaurants nearby, etc
