Might be a dumb question but I'll ask anyway.

I know marriot and ritz are affiliated, but will Marriott gold status work with booking the ritz with marriot points and getting an upgrade?

They are the same program so if have Marriott gold you also have Ritz gold and their points are the same doesn't matter how book

Can anyone who knows the hotel help with one opinion and a couple of questions:

Is it worth the amount of points needed? I have Hilton [Diamond] and IHG [Platinum] points that I can easily use for a couple of nights ocean side stay in Israel. What is special about this hotel?

Does the hotel usually upgrade Gold Marriott members on award stays? Are the upgrades real upgrades or just rooms they designate as one category higher but which in reality are the same [like the IC game].

Is there an Executive Lounge? If not do they offer breakfast to Marriott Gold members somewhere else? Is it an Israeli or Continental breakfast?

Is this property classed as a "resort" hotel, thus negating the guaranteed late check out?

One of the most overrated things in Israel

I find both Elma Arts and Cramim more enjoyable, and I would imagine the new Setai Galil as well.

Thanks for replies. My wife wants to be near, no just in view of, the ocean otherwise Elma Arts is a great hotel. I am anyway not so keen on the Cramim. I guess for this trip I'll stick to the Hilton in Tel Aviv which is a known quantity and where my Diamond status actually counts for something. I'll take a look at the Setai Galil which I have not heard of although the fourth entry in the DuckDuckGo search - "Cheap Hotels in Israel with Arkia - Setai Sea of Galil Tiberias" isn't what I am necessarily looking for!

Hilton tlv has a lounge and they are very good with upgrades . The Ritz mostly sold out their suites as residence so they don't like upgrading higher then one category of go on free night but if go on points they usually upgrade well ( past 2 summers went for 5 nights and got a 1br suite) and recently sen people for a night on points  and they both got the duplex suite.
No they don't have a lounge or give free breakfast which is annoying but overall very enjoyable especially with kids as it's quieter then by tlv and it's near the kosher beach and the part before the kosher section is usually empty so good place to go with family and no pritzus
