FAQs
Do I need a passport to travel to the USVI?
The USVI are United States territories and so travel to and from the islands does not require a passport (for U.S. citizens). With that said you will need to prove, upon return, that you are a U.S. citizen and so a birth certificate or gov't issued ID will be needed. ALSO NOTE: The USVI are part of a greater chain of islands including the British Virgin Islands. If you intend on visiting some of the other islands you may very well need your passport. Best to do you research beforehand.

Will I need to go through customs?
Not on the way in, but all passengers leaving STT must clear customs. No fruits or vegetables are allowed off the island.

Do U.S. cellphones work in the U.S. Virgin Islands?
Yes. However be sure to check with you carrier to see if there will be extra roaming charges. Verizon does not charge extra for data but talk is about $2/minute. Also be careful if you are next to the British islands because if your cellphone catches a tower over there you will be charged as if you're calling from England.

Get $300 spending voucher per person for cultural tours and outdoor activities if you book a 2017 stay via the official Visit VI site. If you visit in march you'll get a "special gift" as well.

See the second entry here for more details and a list of participating hotels.

I didn't do too much research as the VI isn't on my radar currently, but for someone interested in going I figured it may be something to look into.

The US Virgin Islands are marking their 100 year anniversary of becoming a US territory, and on this birthday they're giving out gifts. To celebrate, every visitor will receive $300 to spend on their vacation. The money can be used for historical and cultural tours and activities, so visitors can learn more about the islands' culture

Yes, pretty bad.

I'm assuming all "local" islands will be the same (Aruba, Cayman Islands, etc.)?

Did anyone here stay at the ritz? Is it worth it?
some pics look nice and some look quite unimpressive to say the least.
But it is a tier 5 redemption.

What are the covid requirements if someone is not vaccinated

If you are coming from the mainland US, it appears you only need a negative test within 3 days. Vaccine requirement is for international arrivals.
