Not necessarily.
But you can always tell the seller your calling airlines etc.

If all els fails you can send him a hazmana. Cost you ~$50 give him time though.

For arguments sake let's say he HAS been in business for 10 years. And let's assume he's not trying to cheat you.
He asked if you can wait to cash the check and you can say no.
He should have known that he didn't have the money to pay before using the miles.
Like I said, he either has to pay you now, return your miles, or comp you the same miles back into an account with your name.
That's business.

Unless i am not understanding it correctly. But if he had used the miles for flights, wouldn't that mean he had sold them to someone, hopefully for more money than he was to pay?

He didn't really give me much of a choice as he said he doesn't have the $ in his bank account?

Maybe tell him to give you the "allocated funds" and have him pay the other person/business on Friday.

Generally threatening wont get you anywhere. I would just wait it out a bit for now

As long as he is not avoiding you just be very consistent and follow up every 2 days. He'll then feel pressured enough to get you off his back.

this is the only way, the first time he ignores u...then come back and ask, otherwise just sit tight. esp if u have done biz in the past with him and he was good for the money, then he hit a wall, and he hit it hard.
