Starwood is offering an "exclusive" cardmember event at the 2013 US OPEN.

$165 for lower promenade seating, cocktail reception with dinner (ETA: You can request kosher food) and a meet and greet with a "well-known tennis great."

Anyone up for a DO?

Not sure, but i think they work with the kosher vendor at the stadium to get the meals. Don't have it in me right now to sit on hold for another 10+ minutes.

Doesn't this offer come out much better/cheaper, than purchasing it with 35k SPG?

Different offers.  One you're in a luxury suite, one you're not.  It seems "lower promenade" is a euphemism for nosebleed seats.

The luxury sweet may be nice, but don't think i could justify spending 70K SPG  just to be in the luxury box. For ~$330, i will get the same food, have access to a cocktail reception and meet a "well-known tennis great." The stadium is not a big stadium and the only seats which are "bad" (only due to the walk all the way up) are the top rows. JMHO.

It's 35K for 2 seats, not per seat.

Just means you won't be stuck in the very top rows, but it will definitely still be nosebleed.
Reviews online of them aren't great and you can buy them yourself and bring your own food for less $.

That is a bit better, but even on the low end of what people may value SPG, it is still over $600.

I guess for some who like to be in the luxury suites, this is a good offer. For me, i am happy with what i got.

I guess I don't get why you didn't just buy them on Stubhub?
A suite is an experience, but nosebleed seats can be bought by anyone for a fraction of the price.

I guess one can say that "$165 for lower promenade seating, cocktail reception with dinner (ETA: You can request kosher food) and a meet and greet with a "well-known tennis great" is an experience.

When I think of an experience I think of something money can't buy.
I don't know about Tennis (not a fan) but in Baseball you can wait outside the players parking lot and meet/greet.
Masterson was shocked when he saw I wasn't kidding when I said I had second base from his win that day :D

Just looking at a random session it seems pretty cheap to get in: http://www.stubhub.com/us-open-tennis-tickets/us-open-tennis-flushing-arthur-ashe-stadium-at-the-billie-jean-king-tennis-center-26-8-2013-4269046/
So unless you're giving a lot of weight to meeting a TBD player I don't really see the value in this.
