using USairways mileage for a one-way

I just had to do a last minute flight change. It cost me a lot of money.
I looked for the option of just buying a new 1-way instead of making a change to my RT but USAirways would only let me buy a whole new RT with miles. Am I correct that you can only buy RTs with miles on USAirways?

U can use united miles for a us airways flight one way.
