I have discover and barclaycard, which both offer free FICO scores. Why are they slightly different from one another? Acc to Discover my score is 793, and acc to Barclays it's 798.
Second question - if these are my real FICO scores, why did Barclays only give me a $2000 credit limit? Shouldnt i get something better for such a high score?
Thanks

1. There are many versions of FICO.
2. It's not all about the numerical score.

Thanks. What else is involved in determining credit limits?

Qualitative aspects of your score.
Length of history with other banks and especially with the bank you're applying from.
Amount of existing credit.
Ratio of credit to income with other and this bank.
Number of recent new accounts.
And of course, income.
And probably more.

I was given an 8k limit. Asked for 25k and it was approved on the spot. Lets not over think this.
I just found a new supply of forks!

I guess your'e right.
One of my 1st cards was a BOFA with $800. After maybe a month, I asked for 10K and got it!

Still, these are probably the reasons why he didn't get it automatically.

Which bank, BTW?

The thing is I was in the branch. It was an instant approval for 8k and then changed to 25k with a two minute phone call. There is a theory that existing big CL's will get you new big CL's.

What bank?
Chase have told me many times that they would give me a higher CL if they would see on my report another card with a high CL.

Makes a lot of sense to me.
1) I've always gotten small CLs until I shifted together credit from 4 Chase cards to get a 20k CL and from then on I'm getting nice chunks.

2) On one of my phone calls to Barclays recon the rep told me, "ok, so I'll match up with your highest CL you have with Citi...
I try my best :-\

Do they tend to be lower in NY? Is TU usually the standard in NY?

I wouldn't worry. If you're 820 on TU you're fine on experian as well. I'm in the same score area and had very similar TU and experian scores despite most of my inquiries being chase and Amex.
