In any event, I'm a recent immigrant to Monsey, I think (cmiiw) that at one time there was no traffic light, so a honk was necessary.  I go through the tunnel at least twice a day, nobody ever beeps.

The one in nanuet? Lights been there for many years. I think people beep just for the echo. At least thats what I do occasionally :)

I think its because its a one-lane tunnel for two-way traffic, and the traffic from one direction is coming right off a turn. 

Legends vary as to the history of this enchanting location, but one thing is for sure: the millions of visitors who come from around the world to gain a firsthand experience of this phenomenon do not leave disappointed.

the beep beep tunnel has been A light for many years. BUT as someone mentioned the legend goes that there wasnt so in order for the person to know someone was there you beeped... obviously back in the day :D

chulent is horrible anywheres u go! hot dogs are amazing and chinese is very solid...
