Mistakenly Credited Miles to ?? instead of UA

Anyway to have the other *A carrier "refund" or any other process so I can have the miles credited to UA instead?

I distinctly recall hearing that (with some carriers, at least) you can get the second carrier to "un-credit" the miles they awarded; once they do that, you can re-credit the flight to another program.

I just flew US Airways and had the miles going to United. After the flight, I decided I wanted it to go to A3.

I called US who said that for the return trip that didn't post yet they could switch but for the outgoing flight that already posted to UA - I need to call UA, have them release the miles and then call US  back to send to A3.
I called UA who warned me that once they release them, I can't change my mind and send them back to UA and the system won't accept miles from that same flight again. They said it takes 48 hours.

Once the miles left my UA acct I called US and they now insist that there's no such thing as getting the miles released back to them and that my miles are in no mans land and can't be retrieved. I spoke to supervisors etc who all insisted that I was misinformed by the original rep and there's no such thing as UA releasing them back to US to then be transferred elsewhere.

Does US have a "credit missing miles" part on their site, like UA?

Why not just try it that way instead of going through a  rep?

+1. I just called back US airways who told me to try submitting a credit missing miles on A3's site.
I asked how that would work if according to US they are in no mans land and US didn't know but said can't hurt to try.

I don't know what A3's level of communication with US is and if they will be told by US that the miles were already used or not. I submitted to A3 (needs to be within 14 days). I'll report back if I get the A3 credits or not.

That have to go to Aegean and get them to release the miles, then have to hope United will credit them.
