Wow that's great.  I am late to all these news.  I also found free nights that I thought have expired also have been resurrected to expire on Aug 31,2021 which bring up the following:

2 one night certificates for sale @ market price of $220 a piece (OBO) from a diamond account. PP or zelle.

2 one night certificates for sale @ market price of $220 a piece (firm) from a diamond account. PP or zelle and I need at least 24 hr to work with you (no last minute deals).  Thanks.

Is there a guide to best practices when buying/selling hotel certificates posted somewhere on the site?

I'm being very conservative about travel right now so I have a bunch of Hilton, Marriott and IHG certificates I'd consider selling to someone more comfortable traveling in the coming year.

Presumably sellers are making reservations for buyers, generally with the seller listed on the reservation.

What are the best ways to minimize the risk of something going wrong?

Most account holders are not generally comfortable relinquishing their Account Details (logon and password) so that the buyer can make their own reservation so it is best to make the reservation yourself and put the buyer as the second guest if need be.  Use the buyer's credit card to hold the room.

Best overall recommendation to give to you is to deal with an established DDF member and ask for references if it makes you more comfortable.  Each party has an implied liability with something to lose so it benefits each to be honest and upfront so no misunderstandings occur downstream.

Hope that helps..

Went back a few pgs but didnt see the answer -

1) any restrictions on where these certs can be redeemed or are they valid in entire chain (including WA)?
2) can someone combine certs from 2-3 different people for a 4-6 night night stay?
3) using above scenario can one get the 5th night for free?
4) what's the benefit of being made the primary vs secondary/guest on reservation?

1) any standard room award
2) book separately, call the hotel to link them
3) no
4) secondary, you can get perks if primary is diamond etc. Primary, the room is on your name, less questions asked.
