Yes, but there is such a concept as phonetic transliteration. Holy crap, guys. Just because you're writing a Hebrew word in English doesn't give you carte blanch to write anything you please. It's like that women's clothing shop on Kingston Ave that sells "The Best in Snuis Fashions." Snuis for crying out loud!!!! How does tznius become snuis?

Maybe they're sefardi and pronounce a "tzadi" more like an "s". The transposition of the "iu" was probably a typo.

There are many reasons why someone would want to own a pet.
Anything from having company, having an exercise buddy (as CV mentioned), having something that will always be excited to see you when you get home, they will never hold a grudge against you, you could talk to them all day and they will never repeat anything you ever say! They also will protect you in any way they could, weather waking you up because of a fire or scaring away a burglar.

There are many more reasons but those are the few that popped into my head.

Depending on the breed of the dog, and how the owner takes care of it will depend if you could tell that there's a dog in the house.

I have freinds that have dogs and you wouldn't know from just walking in as there is no smell.

At the moment no.
I did have a dog living in the same house that I used to live in, and I have several friends that have.
