Just flew in to Israel from lga. We were in group 5 for boarding.
By the time they got to group 5&6 they announced no more space for carry on.
The carry on will be checked and picked up at final destination.
Since I was traveling with 2 connections and a stay in Israel for just 60 hours. I had
All my stuff in my carry on. I explained this to the usair rep. She did not care.
I found another rep and she said since is to Israel I could take them on board.
The rushed me ahead of the line of people boarding and never scanned our boarding pass.
Got to the plane and was informed no more room for the bags. So the rep said she will do a door check and will pick it up in Philly on the walkway. Got to Philly and ran to make the connecting flight to Zurich, we only had 45 min for the connection. (Flight in lga was delayed.) When we went to board, they scanned our boarding pass and there was a problem. Went to the desk to see what the issue was. Our tickets were cancelled because we never took the first leg of the trip. I was dumbfounded. What??? I told them I have the door check bags. (I never said the didn't scan the boarding pass). They need a supervisor and reinstated our ticket to Israel. We were the last to board. On the plane I called my wife to call usair to make sure the tickets are good. We were delayed on the plane and my wife emailed me all is good. Usair fixed everything. In Zurich I went to the desk to pick up our boarding pass for the ElAl part of the flight. They tell me we have no ticket. The pnr shows nothing. She needs a ticket number. I say I don't have it, just the pnr on my boarding pass from ny and Philly. She says no good. I said i have a ticket number in my email. The problem is i have no service in zurich. They offer free wifi for 1 hour, but you need a working phone number so they can text you a code. I check my email on my phone for an email from orbitz and all I can see are 3 -4 emails from orbitz. I can't press continue checking server for more mail, because of no service. Luckily one of those emails had my ticket number. The Swiss air rep was able to pull up the tickets. Before boarding I Spoke to ElAl to make sure our luggage that we checked in at lga was there. It was. Boarded the plane and had no special kosher meal. It was cancelled with our reservation.
Arrived in Israel Thursday night after 6pm and leaving Sunday morning at 6 am. Not looking forward to the return even though usair told me tickets are fine.

This is the second time I had usair Philly issues. Last month we missed our connection due to lga delays and circling over Philly. Looking forward to my next trip for Lag b'Omer. United widergo mistake. At least ill be here for a week. This trip was for my fathers yahrzeit. Should have come a day earlier and be stressed that I would miss the yahrzeit.
Bottom line make sure your boarding pass is scanned.
