Merging MR #s
« on: January 06, 2014, 10:43:22 AM »
My wife has a plat biz that is about to get a 100,000 bonus.  I already had to pay the $450 on the card.

She also opened an Amex Blue at the same time.

For some reason, the MR#s on both cards are different.

I plan on canceling the Platinum shortly to recoop the fee, what is the best approach for getting the miles off of it before canceling?

Is there a way to shift the points to my MR#?

Is the AMEX blue personal?. That may be the reason for 2 different MR# but i think u can call them and they will merge it  ( i think it use to cost $ about $10.  but recently i saw somewhere  that they are going to waive the fee for some cardholders EX Platinum.

the purpose of the blue MR is to house points between cards that have an annual fee.  Blue MR can't transfer points to other programs but is free

+1. And that's probably why you got 2 numbers. Bear on mind once you close your Platinum you won't be able to transfer from your Blue Card in to other Programs.
