According to Dan: The nights post within a week of spending, regardless of statement close.
They expire 12-13 months from posting and can typically be extended by 1 more month by emailing Hyatt.

Best offer out there for now: (Thanks DoGo!)
Go to Hyatt.com make a reservation, click book, and before cc page you will see offer for card with the 2 free nights PLUS $50 statement credit. Looks something like this

Anniversary nights appear in account before annual fee posts.

When does the anniversary night post,
I'm thinking of waiting for the anniversary night to post & then closing the card

Won't you lose plat status if you close?
What do you do after your dreams come true?

If I close my current Hyatt card today, can I sign up at a later date and get the 2 free nights again? If yes, how long should I wait?

Yes

Any suggestion on how long to wait in between? I try to be more cautious with Chase than other banks because I bank with them too so it would be even more inconvenient if I got A/A'd.

Depend where you want to go. Hyatt, and fairmont give you 2 free nights at any category. Ritz, and marriott can help you rack up a lot of marriott points.

True. I just meant that he can rack up marriot points, and diversify his hotel stays.

I am looking more for the most reward nights as possible by signing up; not necessarily the most luxurious(highest category)

But Ritz has annual fee that is not waived, correct?

I noticed you did not mention IHG?
