According to Dan: The nights post within a week of spending, regardless of statement close.
They expire 12-13 months from posting and can typically be extended by 1 more month by emailing Hyatt.

Best offer out there for now: (Thanks DoGo!)
Go to Hyatt.com make a reservation, click book, and before cc page you will see offer for card with the 2 free nights PLUS $50 statement credit. Looks something like this

Anniversary nights appear in account before annual fee posts.

I know its a bit late but I thought the rule with chase was that as long as you are approved you will get the bonus. Only amex will approve you and not give you the bonus
That's for Chase branded cards. AFAIK, if you apply for a co-branded card within 2 years of getting the bonus with the same FFN, you won't get it even if approved.

Changed my statement date to close as soon as the spend posted and the statement doesn't show that I earned the 5,000 points for getting an AU and them making a purchase (which I did). Has anyone has this? Does it take a few days to register and I just made the statement close too soon?

5k points?
« Reply #1982 on: April 05, 2016, 08:39:20 AM »
I just got approved instantly with the $50 offer (tried a dummy booking). But now I read the Offer Details carefully and see that getting 5k points for adding an AU is NOT there.
Anybody knows if I can still get 5k points for adding an AU? Thanks.

I believe that you need to have some time between when you hit spend and statement closing. Can't be next day.

Its either or. You can ask Chase though for the 5k. No harm in that.

Dear CS91,

Thank you for contacting Chase regarding your Hyatt credit
card account ending in XXXX.

I can confirm you have met the spending requirement.
Please allow 7-10 days for the 2 free nights to post to
your Hyatt Gold Passport membership account.

Additionally, the 5,000 bonus points posted to your credit
card account on 4/5/16. These points will be reflected on
the next billing statement.

We appreciate the opportunity to help you. We value our
relationship with you and thank you for choosing Chase.
Please contact us anytime if you need assistance.

According to that, I should be able to have the statement close today or tomorrow and get the points, right? Also, when my statement closed yesterday, it closed with a balance of $1,000 and I haven't paid it yet. Would it be bad to have another statement close before I pay the balance? Technically, it's not due for another few weeks.

as far as the 1000 dollar balance. It depends what the credit limit is. If you have a low credit limit. Then even the first time the statement closed w 1k it is bad for your score. If your credit limit is 4k and up it is fine

in order to get points for the au, the au needs to make a purchase as well besides for the basic cardholder?

I'm aware of the implications of having a statement close with a balance. I was asking if there would be an extra negative effect due to having another statement close before the previous statement was paid off. Unique scenario.

The basic cardholder actually doesn't need to make a purchase at all. If only the AU makes purchases and hits the threshold, you'll get the 2 sign up nights and the 5,000 points for the AU making a purchase.

That's what the 5,000 is for. Add an AU and have them make a purchase.

From my experience, the AU does not have to make a purchase. The CC# and cvv are the same.

From the T&Cs

To qualify for and receive your Hyatt Gold Passport® points, your First Purchase and addition of an authorized user to your account must both occur during the first 3 months from account opening.

It states "your [the account holder] first purchase"

I stand corrected. Just looked back at offer. Not sure why I read it as saying that AU has to make a purchase. Also good point that the number and CVV are the same.

From my recollection it says au has to make purchase but like it's been mentioned they wouldn't be able to tell anyways

IME, this is the same with any Chase consumer card that offers a bonus for adding an AU. The AU need not make a purchase.
