According to Dan: The nights post within a week of spending, regardless of statement close.
They expire 12-13 months from posting and can typically be extended by 1 more month by emailing Hyatt.

Best offer out there for now: (Thanks DoGo!)
Go to Hyatt.com make a reservation, click book, and before cc page you will see offer for card with the 2 free nights PLUS $50 statement credit. Looks something like this

Anniversary nights appear in account before annual fee posts.

Why not just buy nights and then sell yours when you get them?

Had this card over 2 years ago. Called Hyatt and confirmed that the cardmember bonus hit the account on 4/14. Application pending with explanation via letter stating i received a new cardmember bonus within the last 24 months.

Called recon, and supposedly the award hit the account on 9/2/14. She said I should call back after that date and have it reconsidered since the app will still be valid and post 24 months.

Any thoughts if that would actually work?

Good to know as I'm approaching what I think is 24 months from earning the award - I'll call Chase before I app.

Worst case scenario, no, it doesn't work and you reapply when you're eligible, but your decline wasn't based on a credit worthiness factor so if it's just timing it could work. Report back please.

Oh with Chase they at least approve you only if you can qualify for the bonus, they know you are signing up for the card for the bonus, if you don't qualify for bonus they will not let you open the card

ETA: called chase and they can't find my old Hyatt account in their records. So does that mean I'm good to go, or go two years from whatever Hyatt says?

Besides NYC, what are the best uses of the 2 nights that are within 5 hour driving distance of the NYC area? Only one I know of is Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, anything else?

I would not waste a SUN on the hyatt regency chesapeke bay rooms there are under $200 a night most of the time. you can easily sell a SUN for $250

Understood, would still like a list of some good options.

the only one is the park hyatt ny or andaz 5th nothing else really worth it. Just sell the SUN and use the $ to stay at any hotel you want instead of limiting yourself to hyatt. You can end up in chesapeke bay as well just dont waste the SUN on it

Do the free nights ever expire?
