According to Dan: The nights post within a week of spending, regardless of statement close.
They expire 12-13 months from posting and can typically be extended by 1 more month by emailing Hyatt.

Best offer out there for now: (Thanks DoGo!)
Go to Hyatt.com make a reservation, click book, and before cc page you will see offer for card with the 2 free nights PLUS $50 statement credit. Looks something like this

Anniversary nights appear in account before annual fee posts.

Is it easy to merge GP accounts?

Shouldn't be too hard, no experience though. Either way, I can't lose anything from trying though.

You up for a churn?

Not yet. Lying low with Chase since I'm already pushing my limits with them. I can't afford to lose them ATM now that I'm gone from Amex (for now). I'm also overloaded with inquiries, so I need a breather regardless. Unless something really hot comes my way, I'm looking at a mega-AOR in April.

I'd probably just create a new GP account and merge to the new account, this way I'm still Platinum but with a new GP#.
But then you won't get the benefits of applying from a Plat/Diamond account.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

You could just get the diamond trial before the application.
On another note you should update the Hyatt card to 2nd free night after the 1k spend

I think he's saying merge them pre-application. Will that not also transfer the status?

When I merge the accounts, wouldn't my new account get the same status as the old one?

IME with CO/UA, when you merge the elite account is the one you keep, so there would be no point merging before applying for the card.

Wouldn't each program have their own way of doing things, in that regard?

If anyone has any experience with this, I'd really appreciate it. I'm going to Paris this summer, and have my tkts already. I signed up for the hyatt card with diamond status. Recieved card on 2/10 and spend $0.56 on the card. I know the rules say the free nights take 10 days to post. When i called Hyatt they said the rooms are available now but they go very quickly because everyone uses there free night awards in Paris, and there are only 15 or so standard rooms. When should I expect to recieve the free nights? Can I reserve a lowest standard room with a credit card adn when the free nights post, cancel the room and rebook with the free night award?

Does that mean I'm ok as long as a standard suite is available? Are those the rooms called "park suite king" or "park suite twin"

That's funny because when I called yesterday, the customer service lady didn't make that recommendation
