According to Dan: The nights post within a week of spending, regardless of statement close.
They expire 12-13 months from posting and can typically be extended by 1 more month by emailing Hyatt.

Best offer out there for now: (Thanks DoGo!)
Go to Hyatt.com make a reservation, click book, and before cc page you will see offer for card with the 2 free nights PLUS $50 statement credit. Looks something like this

Anniversary nights appear in account before annual fee posts.

There's a spend requirement? Its not just first purchase?

Need some advice:
I have an upcoming trip to Hawaii in 3 weeks. I have tried to get Hyatt to status match from my Hilton gold, and then apply for the card to get 2 suites in the GH. Problem is they want to see some activity, although my friend got a match/ challenge a few weeks ago by sending in the exact same Hilton page I sent in. I know the topic of Hyatt cracking down has been discussed many times in this thread but what should I do now?

Should I try to send in the Hilton paper again in the hopes of finding a better rep? Is there a better strategy that will get me status matched within the next few days so we can get the suites in time for our trip?

Nope.

Then I can't help you out. But you can keep trying. It took me a while. I wonder if you can try calling different Hyatt departments.

Did you try transferring points to count as activity. I remember someone got matched that way.

When did the charge actually post to your account?

Can I have papa to apply for the Hyatt card and I use the free nights or names have to match at checkin?

You can add your name to the reservation but there have been experiences where people checked in and they requested for the main name to check in. YMMV.

There are no guarantees, but with the same lastname you have even less of a problem IMHO, I wouldn't take the warnings too seriously, though I'd be cautious when checking in (i.e. second person on the res should check in alone).

For anyone trying this (ever, at all), that should be a given.
