What's the deal with bringing an esrog into Israel?

How many do they allow through? Do they allow any at all?!

You are allowed to bring ONE esrog per person. Try to bring more and they will make trouble by customs..... (unless they dont see it)

CMIIW, but I seem to think the yanava esrogim grown in Israel have a pitum. And most chabad guys try to get one without a pitum.

Any issue bringing to/from niagara falls canada when travelling by car? I would think that the esrog would be an issue since they are worried about the pests.

According to a memo (in hebrew) from the Ministry of Agriculture from 2011 you may bring only 1 esrog with you into Israel.

he didnt see it (i put in under my stroller and wheeled through) but i had an israeli customs paper just in case
