The complication is that health insurance does 3 things:
1. Negotiates rates with providers. All out pocket costs to the plan member derive from there.
2. Cost sharing between monthly fixed expenses, vs. variable fees-for-services
3. Traditional insurance in that you have an out of pocket max each year and unlimited lifetime coverage.

Health Shares do a good job with #2, but a worse job at #1 and #3. The members are left to negotiate cash payment, and also could have liability that the health share won't cover, not to mention risks of insolvency.
On the other hand, many times the negotiated rate is higher than the cash rate, in which case you would save money. I have used coupons for prescriptions and saved 50% over using insurance. I think a major way they save money is by structuring in a way that encourages members to cut costs.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

That is great for your regular doctor. Once someone needs specialists that will not be simple. An insurace company had tens of thousands of participating doctors.
Also not very relevant if you are only dealing with copays.
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used to start a religious discussion.

It is very relevant on a high deductible plan

The cash rate is significantly lower than the amount they bill insurance. They have different negotiated rates with each insurer, and they just bill much higher than that to make sure they don't underbill any insurance that has a high negotiated rate.

In a case of a catastrophic plan (or any other plan subject to a deductible) the amount you pay/owe when deductible isn't yet met is the negotiated rate.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
