I don't know if this is possible, but it would probably be easier if there was a simple way to reply/quote in the "sister" discussion thread.
For example next to the quote button, in an update-only thread, there can be another button to "Quote for discussion" which would automatically open the discussion thread and start posting a reply with the quote.

Better yet maybe change the default coding for "quote" on those threads:
For example right now quote on the first post in "[NO DISCUSSION!] Breaking News In The Israel-Hamas War" brings you to:
https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?action=post;quote=2763941;topic=134768.0
instead switch it to:
https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?action=post;quote=2763941;topic=134532.0

Aside for what users (and Dan!) were implying above, when it was discussed before I noted the lifnei iver aspects of having a negative button available at one's fingertips. I also think that it would immediately change the overall tone of the community. But these are just my opinions. I'm very happy there isn't one.

I was unable to insert images before (netfree filter). Now i can!

While what @mevinyavin writes is correct, I don't think that you have much to lose by contacting them and asking them why, and what you as a site owner would need to do to have it opened...

Ignored is fine. I'm talking about the back and forth and the "we will check it out" and "nope, we can't open it for undisclosed reasons" etc. etc.
I once installed netfree on a tablet and it prevented me from using the sim card. It went back and forth for 3 months. Not so much fun. Oh. And they weren't able to help me in the end...

I believe that on the tablet they make you record a video of yourself saying that you understand that they do not have a removal option.
