I actually wrote a python script that pinged the site every minute (sorry dan) during the day and checked for new posts. If there was a new post that had certain keywords in the title or matched the categories I specified, it sent my wife and me a text message with a link to the post. Worked well during those price mistakes.

This gave me an interesting idea, I'm testing a recipe with IFTTT right now based on the RSS feed. I'll keep y'all posted

Trust me, I tried that before I made my scripts. IFTTT and DDMS feedburner doesn't update fast enough. Twitter is way faster that the IFTTT combo

Well he has bandwith costs to consider. My script was pinging him every minute without giving him any revenue. Not the worst if one person is doing it, but if many people were to do it then it could be costly.

Yup that's why I decided the other options weren't good enough.

you checked dansdeals.com

for some reason some of the post that are filed into categories lets say amazon

will not be on main site for a minute or so
but if you clicked the direct link or if you clicked amazon you would see it!!!

15 minutes is not fast enough for a price mistake or airline glitch..

Especially if those could've already been active on DDF for 10-30 minutes (and even longer on other blogs/forums) before getting posted to the main site.

Solution: check DDF every 60 seconds. Then rely on the emails for deals that are good enough for you to buy, but not good enough to make it to DDF (necessarily), or to go OOS/die within 15 minutes.

Potential pitfalls: work, life, etc.

This method has proved successful for me

Not quite.
There's an AWS caching system. It takes a minute for the public site to see changes I make.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

That makes more sense
Or else it shouldn't be visible in the amazon category

I've had the other way around many times, where I saw it on the site before getting the tweet.
