The assumption that we can get robots that can learn everything is extreme but I wouldn't say impossible. But assuming it's true why is it extreme to say that's what will happen?
I was actually trying to think of a way how someone can stop it from happening if we do get such robots. I couldn't really think of a way.
Then I was thinking of it's effects...

The second part about inflation and unemployment I didn't really think it through so I don't understand it yet.
Look up Ray Kurzweil and Singularity.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Because there is more to the price of goods than the cost of labor in producing them.
+1. Resources are still mostly finite. More robots would generally accelerate that process through increased consumption.
This is a fascinating topic. We may be living through the equivalent (or bigger) of the industrial revolution.
Automation of industry began well before we were all born, and the process will continue long after we're gone.

Energy and materials.
The energy part is extremely important. There's a book by Jeremy Rifkin that details its importance in prior 'revolutions', and posits that the conference of changes to communication structures (technology) and energy structures (renewables) will lead to the third industrial revolution.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Third_Industrial_Revolution

There's also a documentary-ish video (mostly the author taking to an audience) on YouTube. Very long, but I found it fascinating.

The actual goods? The cost of running said robots would need to be covered as well.

Energy and materials.
The robots can do anything a person can do. Including getting whatever resources needed to make renewable energy and build solar panels, wind turbines, nuclear reactors, batteries.
They can mine for metal ores, melt it, pick cotton, plant potatoes, sew buttons, fix other robots, you get the point.
designing them.
Ok I didn't really think of that. I was assuming that the stuff that we have today is good enough and if everything was free there wouldn't be a demand for innovation.
Plus I'm thinking now the biggest expense of trying out new things is building custom made stuff or trying new formulas... That a robot can do, it just needs a person to tell it what to do.
Look up Ray Kurzweil and Singularity.
I scanned the Wikipedia article for a bit. I'll look at it later a little more. I saw he holds of that things keep on getting better forever which I don't see any reason to believe so.

Ok that's also a very good point that I didn't really think of. I was assuming that there would be enough for everyone which I guess I shouldn't have.

If flip phones were free there would be no demand for iphones?

If the original statement holds true (robots can do anything a person can do), then the robots can obviously design products as well.

I think we are a long way from that. You're talking about AI with real intelligence, which at that point may decide to take over the world from humans.

Who's talking about how close we are? The OP wrote:
If it's possible to create a robot that can learn to do everything a person can do then everything will be free and money won't exist anymore.
Doesn't that by definition mean true AI?

Typically that is used to mean that rbots can do anything which a human can physically do. It would not mean that robots could have biological babies etc.

Typically? You want to assert what the phrase 'robots can learn to do everything a person can do' has a typical usage? I dispute that assertion. Especially because he said learn, which to me implies true AI.

I was trying to avoid saying robots can think like humans. But if not then it makes it much easier

So what does learn mean? You mean they can be programmed to do anything humans can do?

True. Skyguy pointed that out.

I guess that's also true. So how would that play out if everything that was currently in existence was free? Meaning, why would anyone try to develop something. What do they get out of it?

I don't remember anymore :) I think I was saying to the extent of what ai is capable of. If that includes literally everything than very good. But I wanted to stick to more basic things.
