I've never been to one of these large-scale operations, the only time I've seen it done has been in a small parking lot behind a private building so I can only comment on what those are like. I personally use money which is donated to charity, I'm not a huge fan of chickens doing their business on my head.
Not available for public viewing would be a good thing.

The money for brutally killing a chicken?
Yes I eat chicken.

What does eating chicken have to do with this. You said to donate the money.  Why do you assume there is money, just because we're Jewish?

@ChaimMoskowitz answer one simple question.  Yes or no.  If there was  dying chicken on the road with no legs, and it was about to be killed by accident by something you had set in motion, would you or would you not, stop it from being killed?

Answering a question before it asked.

You don't pay for the chicken? I guess most here were pulling my leg then.

The no legs make it a tough me. Going to need more facts.

Why do feel you have the right to ask me a yes/no question when you avoid them like the plague.  :)

In the open in the middle of NYC maybe? Point being that it looks like a barbaric act. Why can't in be done in private?

Disclaimer: Not looking for PC.

What makes this more brutal than any other way of killing a chicken?
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

So you have nothing against slaughtering chickens or this ritual, you just want it done in hiding so you can pretend that chicken is created in clean vacuum packed trays in the supermarket fridge?

Two wrongs don't make a right.

There are many people (in the Kosher market too) who make a point, and pay more, to only buy animals raised and processed humanely and ethically.

I happen to have an issue with how chickens are handled before they are slaughtered as well. I have no issue with killing chickens to eat.

Donate the money to someone that needs it.
Actually the proper way to do it is to then eat the chicken yourself (seuda hamafsekes) and donate it's value to the needy. When kapporos are sold by organizations for inflated prices, the part of donating the value to the needy is included.

Another benefit of doing that when you have kids is giving them a little education about how to kasher meat, getting them to a realization that the chicken they eat isn't created in clean vacuum packed trays in the supermarket fridge.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
