I am willing to bet many health issues are being violated. If someone was doing this as a part of a voodoo ceremony it would be shutdown in a heartbeat.

The place I did last year in Boro Park was giving them to a local kosher soup kitchen.  I suppose you can call that a "jewish charity," is in "run by jews."

Not in your chicken soup. Come to the boro park soup kitchen. And being as most of the local charities are Jewish, and the charities themselves are often in charge of arranging the kapparos, it's usually given to Jewish organizations.

Talking about the cruelty to animals involved add if you believe a word of it is moronic, plain and simple. The pope hasn't shut down people eating meat. It bothers you that people get some religious benefit out of the chickens before they're slaughtered?

The fact is that there are places donating the chickens to charity, but the bad apples will ruin it for the rest.
